Parents, teachers, students, and other stakeholders arrived in droves early in the morning on May 23, 2019 to join the Brigada Eskwela 2019 at Pasay City North High School – M. dela Cruz.
The day began with the orientation of students and parents which took place at the newly-renovated Fifth Floor School Gym. After the singing of the National Anthem and a prayer led by Mrs. Myra Desacula, Mr. Roger B. Escarilla, Assistant Principal, gave a welcoming address.
Dr. Renato B. Mesada, Public Schools District Supervisor and OIC-Principal gave his message as well, sharing with the parents the recent achievements of the school while informing them of the changes as well, like the construction of a new building on the former canteen space.
Mr. Escarilla then introduced the faculty by subject area, and was followed closely by Mrs. Almera Alkuino, head of English department, and Guidance Counselor Mrs. Marites Legaspi who discussed the school rules and regulations.
School programs for working and returning students were discussed by Open High School Program and Grade 10 Level Coordinator Mrs. Elvindia P. Juanillo and Alternative Learning System (ALS) teacher Mrs. Oliva Paranga.
Health and nutrition concerns were handled by school nurses Ms. Paula DL Ramos and Ms. Melissa Yap. The school’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Coordinator Mr. Lawrence SD. Puno discussed the school’s preparedness against natural and man-made disasters to ensure the students’ safety inside its walls.
The program ended with a talk on drug awareness courtesy of Mr. Alan Octaviano, a representative of the City Council Drug Abuse Council.
In the afternoon, a medical mission courtesy of doctors from the Adventist Medical Center Manila serviced almost 100 patients with basic check-ups and medicines.
